Shiraz from Block Four is low yielding but produces slightly larger berries which brings a plush generosity to the wine. The shallow soil profile with low water holding capacity requires intensive viticultural management. Composting improves soil structure and increases nutrient availabilty and water holding capacity. Vines are rod and spur pruned for balance which descreases the draw on precious water supply.
Vintage: 2021
Colour: Deep brick red core with a ruby rim.
Aroma: Intense aromas of blackberry, dark plum, black cherry liquorice, whole black pepper and layered with subtle hints of clove, nutmeg, cinnamon and dark chocolate.
Palate: Rich, textured flavours of blackcurrant, boysenberry, black olive tapenade and plum sauce are complimented with savoury notes of black pepper, and cured meats. A fine acid line and dusty cedar oak tannins give focus and structure. This wine has all the traits that has
made the Marananga one of the most sought-after appellations in the Barossa Valley.

Shiraz taken from the lower section of the Schubert house estate. Super deep crimson in the glass. Plush and pure satsuma plum, blueberry and boysenberry. Hints of baking spices, blueberry pie, Old Gold chocolate, violets, pan juices, cedar, olive tapenade and earth. Like liquid blackforest cake with super tight, fine-grained, powdery tannins and a super long cassis-like exit.
