SCHUBERT ESTATE NEW CELLAR DOOR IN ROSE PARK,ADELAIDE
NEWS 6 December 2016
NEW CELLAR DOOR
Here at Schubert Estate we have been busy. As many of you know working in vineyards and the making and marketing of wine was very hard work for Cecilia and me. Over recent years, with the growth of wine exports, we came to recognise that we could no longer do everything ourselves. Opportunities, to change and improve, should not be missed and so since late 2014 Schubert Estate has been heading into a new and exciting direction. This included the opening of a new Cellar Door & Wine Sales within the Adelaide region offering accessibility, service and faster delivery.
The change will allow Schubert Estate to continue on, develop further and allow us to concentrate on all the other important things in life, however we’ll still be keeping our involvement on what really matters. Schubert Estate has taken a new direction in broadening the marketing and export horizons by adding a second Cellar Door closer to where buyers are located. A traditional Adelaide stone villa situated at 26 Kensington Road, Rose Park was selected, renovated, refurbished and has become the Adelaide based Cellar Door for Schubert Estate.
Schubert Estate began in the early 1880s when a Schubert family settled in the Barossa Valley. When Steve Schubert took over the aged Arthur Schubert's Roennfeldt Road property in the early 1980s he began renovating the house and expanded and further developed the vineyards. It was all work and he never stopped to have a break! In year 2000 The Schuberts marked the new millennium by making their first batch of wine using the Shiraz grapes grown on Goose-yard Block one of the vineyards of the 50 acre estate. In 2004 The Weekend Australian featured James Halliday’s article about the Goose-yard Block Shiraz and from that day on the Schuberts continued to develop the range of wines, although there’s been a lot of hard work, they've never looked back.
Everything is now on track and the entire estate has, since vintage 2015, been growing grapes solely for the Schubert Estate wines and as such, the Schubert Estate wines will continue to be grown and made on Roennfeldt Road, an area recognised by the Wine Advocate’s Robert Parker, as a world class Shiraz growing area. The marketing and export of the wine will now be based at the new Adelaide Cellar Door and these premises will make a difference in providing a service for customers, not just from overseas and interstate, but also those living in Adelaide. The Cellar Door in the Barossa is currently being refurbished and more on that later.
"There were as many difficult times as there were joyous occasions and now with the foundation well laid for Schubert Estate we hope that our new direction will please all our friends who have supported us throughout the years and we thank you for you friendship and appreciate your continued support. Thank you very much for your continued support." Cheers, Steve & Cecilia Schubert
P.S. Although the Cellar Door’s feature is the full range of Schubert Estate’s 7 wines, it is hoped that the opportunity to enter a traditional style Adelaide home would also appeal to the international tourist visiting Adelaide. The Adelaide based Cellar Door building will provide another wine outlet for Schubert Estate complementing the recently renovated and opened Schubert Estate Cellar Door in the Barossa.
