2015 The Goose Yard Block Shiraz

A wine sourced entirely from the Block 2 vineyard at our Roennfeldt Road estate in Marananga; affectionately known as the Goose Yard Block. The fruit is hand-picked, destemmed and fermented using a wild yeast in 5 tonne open top fermenters, then basket pressed to fill a combination of new (66%) and two-year-old (34%) French oak 225L barriques for a maturation period of 20 months.
 
In the glass you see a dark core of black with a garnet rim. On the nose there is an intense bouquet of dark chocolate, dark plums, liqueur cherry and dried cranberry notes. Secondary aromas of star anise, cinnamon and spicy cedar oak abound. The palate is flavour rich, packed with  blackberries, black currants and black olives interwoven with savoury notes of leather, allspice, and cigar box. Chewy tannins and fine acid line provide balance and the perfect framework for an impressively proportioned wine that will reward 10 years plus cellar maturation.
